Gaming Truck vs. GG Academy: 10 Reasons Parents Are Choosing an In-Venue Gaming Party
The short answer
A gaming truck brings the games to your driveway, but the party is still at your house. You host the kids, feed the parents who stay, and clean up after everyone leaves.
At GG Academy in Cedar Grove, you send the invites and bring the dessert. We handle everything else: the space, the stations, the staff, the snacks, the cleanup, and, most importantly, making sure the kids have fun!
If you're a parent weighing the two, here's an honest side-by-side, including when a truck is the better call.

10 reasons parents choose GG Academy over a gaming truck
1. Nobody has to come to your house
A truck party means every kid, and usually a few parents, ends up at your place. That means cleaning before, hosting during and cleaning after. At GG, your house stays exactly the way you left it.
2. You don't have to feed the kids or the parents
When the party is at home, the food and drinks are on you, for the kids and for every adult who sticks around. Our 2.5- and 3-hour packages include a drink, a snack, water, plates and utensils. You're welcome to bring any other food you like.
3. Your only jobs: invites and dessert
With our most popular packages, you send the invites and bring the cake. We handle the setup, the hosting, the games and the cleanup. That's the whole list.
4. Stay, drop off, or enjoy your afternoon
Some parents hang out and watch. Others drop the kids off and head to Cedar Beans for a coffee, or to Biga or Delmonico's for a bite, then come back to happy, worn-out kids. With a truck in your driveway, you're not going anywhere.
5. Every kid plays at the same time
Trucks are limited by how many kids fit on the seats. One national chain notes older kids fill its sofas at around 12. At GG, every guest gets their own station, with room for up to 30 players. No one waits in the yard for a turn.
6. Equipment kids notice
We built GG from the ground up for gaming: 27 PCs with RTX 4070 Ti graphics and 240Hz monitors, 8 Xbox, 8 PlayStation and 10 Nintendo Switch consoles, plus 55" and 85" OLED TVs. The graphics on our PCs are a big step up from what a truck can bring, and kids who game at home notice within a minute.
7. The games they actually ask for
Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Switch favorites, Geometry Dash and more, on PC and console. Online play runs on our high-speed connection, not your home Wi-Fi, and isn't an extra charge.
8. Their squad, side by side
Parents sometimes ask, "Will they just sit and game the whole time?" Yes, and they'll love it. It's what they already do at home, usually with friends on a headset. Here, the friends are in the next seat, cheering and trash-talking in person.
9. Bragging rights they'll talk about for weeks
Our Legendary package includes hosted tournaments with prizes. Nothing beats watching the birthday kid win a private tournament against their friends, or a whole squad lined up on their own stations winning a match together.
10. Staff who keep it fun, at any age
Our team is on hand the whole party to help kids get into the games they want, keep things moving and make sure everyone's included. They're good with every age, from first gamers to teens.
What it really costs
On price alone, the two land in the same range. What you get for the money is where they differ.
One national gaming truck chain publishes rates of about $400 to $450 for a 2-hour party for up to 15 guests, with online gaming as an add-on (GameTruck pricing). Then add pizza and drinks for 15 kids plus the parents who stay, plates and napkins, and getting the house ready.
At GG, 15 kids on our 2.5-hour package is $600. That includes a drink and snack for every player, water, tableware, a private space, staff hosting the whole time, and cleanup. You bring dessert.
The bigger difference is how your day feels. We make hosting easy: get the kids here, bring dessert, then sit back, relax and watch us orchestrate the fun.
When a gaming truck makes sense
We'll be straight with you: a truck can be the better fit sometimes.
- You want the party at home, like a backyard event where gaming is one activity among several.
- Getting the kids to Cedar Grove would be a real hassle, and no one can carpool.
- Most of the guests won't be gaming, and you just need something for a few kids to do.
Our party packages
Every party gets a private space, with prices per player.
- Parties run 4 to 30 players. The birthday kid counts; siblings and adults who aren't playing don't.
- The VIP Room fits up to 7 players, with 7 PCs, consoles and an 85" OLED. It's our most requested space.
- Groups of 20 or more get the full venue.
